Tuesday, June 10, 1997
Hi my name is Lanna. I'm 7 years old. I have been in
gymnastics for about a year. Today I just moved up
to
an "aspiring 4." An "aspiring 4" means that you are
trying to be in level 4. Normally in my old class
we
had it 2 times a week and for 2 hours. But in this
class we have it 3 times a week for 3 hours.
The great thing about having 3 hours is you get about
a 10 minute break. It was kind of scary today. I had
one new teacher. Her name is Lin. But she was pretty
nice. It was a little harder but my team and I managed
to make it through.
I practice gymnastics about wherever I go. At home,
at
my mom's day care, outside, at my grandparent's house,
just about anywhere.
It's very fun to be in gymnastics. Because every day
you learn something new and you get to watch the high
level kids do their gymnastics. I know gymnastics
is
hard work, but we get some play time too. My favorite
is jumping into "the pit." It has squishy blue squares
in it. Today we got to jump in there twice. We never
did get to jump in twice in my old class.
Sometimes gymnastics is boring. Sometimes I hate gymnastics.
Sometimes the teachers yell-- especially one of my
old teachers.
But I don't have her in my new class and I'm glad.
If you're wondering what we do on break... we bring
some
snacks to eat. And we bring some drinks also. Me and
my best friend, Rianne did not bring any snacks today.
Rianne only brought water. My friend Casey offered
Rianne some raisins. Rianne took one bite and she
said, "these raisins are slimy!" So she threw them
away.
Me and Rianne made a deal that tomorrow she would
bring
a dollar to get a pop out of the machine for both
of us
and I am going to bring some snacks.
We talked about how her older sister was in what level
and what she could do. And we also talked about the
best one that could do gymnastics in the school. Her
name is Breisha. She's in a higher level than Rianne's
sister. Man, she is good!
